Hey all. I'm having an issue using the search field in google and using jaws 6.0. This just started happening yesterday. When I make a mistake in the search box and I backspace jaws will not tell me what I'm backing over. All it will do is say blank. I tried to restart jaws and restart my computer and it still does this. I even made sure the screen was all the way maximized. Google seems to be the only place I'm having this issue. I didn't make any changes when this all started. Anyone else having this issue? Did google make any changes to their coding that could of caused this? Thanks.

i had that problem, it's gone now though. i don't know how i fixed it. do you have anything running in the background like a virus scanner or anti-spyware tool? they can cause problems like that

2 things you can do. 1 don't make a mistake when typing a search term. 2, upgrade to JAWS 7. or JAWS 8 when it comes out next month.

There's also a Google search box here. /google from quickntoes or it's on the main menu. Maybe it'll work better?

One thing you can do to see what you have is to go to the beginning of the input line by getting into forms mode, and press the home key. then press ctrl+end to select everything on that line.

Sometimes, this straightens out the problem with the input box on google, I don't know why, but it seems to help.

Beats paying a fortune for an upgrade to jaws that won't help anyway.

You mean someone hasn't written a script file to fix this yet?

You're right, Bobby.

I'm using JAWS 7, and it happens, and not only with Google. I'm running avg anti-virus and anti-spyware. Thanks for the suggestion that either or both of these programs may contribute to this. Maybe these programs contribute to my Firefox issues, as well? That's for another topic.

I can suggest that when you can afford it, switch to window eyes. I am also having a problem with JAWS. It involves when I go to my computer, JAWS won't read the options. I mean, it won't read C, D, Floppy Disk, or anything like that. Won't read any of the folders either.

Hi,

This trouble with some text input areas and JFW not able to read them, for me, dates back to JFW 3.3 (1998?). It doesn't happen to all text input areas; I cannot figure out which attributes of the area gives JFW trouble. I can't honestly say whether Freedom Sci-Fi isn't looking to address this one, or they're having as much trouble isolating it as I am. Other than the "Switch to WE" and the "Upgrade jJFW", some easy workarounds have beeen suggested; I've used them both.
